Thruxton
Thruxton is, like many other tracks, a former World War Two aerodrome. As a result, it shares some of the characteristics of Snetterton and Castle Combe in that it is blindingly quick, wide and windswept, but it has a character all of its own. As well as being the fastest circuit in the country (apart from the Rockingham oval), it is certainly one of the most difficult.
Its difficulty comes from the lack of reference points around the track. Newcomers can easily get disorientated here, particularly as the circuit doesn't really have any proper straights. One gentle curve leads into another, radii are changing mid-bend, and even the long climb back to the chicane is curving. But boy, it is fast!
It is a circuit that requires confidence in your car. If you get spooked by a handling characteristic of your car, then this is probably not the place for your first track day.
