The start finish straight is slightly uphill and your braking point for Riches can be dictated by whether you are in a headwind or not. The corner is a very long 90 degree one, and the best line involves hitting two apexes. These are clearly identifiable by the rubber markings on the kerbing. A corner where you will be surprised how much speed you can carry through here.
Much tighter than Riches, but more important to get right. The exit is far wider than the actual circuit width. The owners have given up trying to repair the bit of old runway everyone used on exit, and just tarmacced it instead. As a result, it means the wide exit is essential to keep speed onto the Revett Straight. Avoid hammering the apex kerbs here - it will cost you traction.
I tend to turn into the esses after the bridge, and hug the left-hand side of the track after turn in, before making a positive turn to a neat exit. This is because I believe the following section, from the Bombhole to Riches is as dependent on exit speed as a straight would be. However, other drivers maximise the speed off the preceding straight by taking a shallower turn in to the left hander and scrabbling around the right. What you choose depends on your car.
In a small saloon or a car with downforce, this is a fast kink. In the wet or in a more powerful car, it becomes a real bend. Heavily cambered, you will find the apex tucked in a drain in the kerb.
An awesome corner, that should not require any braking. The line is vital here, as you really need to hug the inside for longer than you imagine necessary to avoid running out of road. A balanced throttle is essential if you can't take this bend flat.
Before 1990 this was a stunning corner, one that made any driver's trek to Norfolk worthwhile. It used to be a flat out kink, totally in keeping with the nature of the track. It was then replaced with one of the worst chicanes anywhere, a real stop start affair, which has since been eased to be a more flowing sequence. A good overtaking spot, as there are a variety of lines that work through here. You can carry a reasonable speed in, but it is vital that you keep it neat enough to clip a late apex on the second (left-hand) kerb. A messy mid section here will kill your speed across the startline.
