Donington Park
Donington is the ideal track day venue. Well surfaced, good run off areas, decent facilities and above all, a cracking good lap! The flowing nature of Donington also means that it is kinder to tyres, brakes and engines than more stop-start types of tracks, although I must state that I'm referring to the national circuit in this feature.
The longer MotoGP circuit adds another half mile to the lap, but in my mind detracts from the pleasure, simply adding a tight chicane and two 180-degree hairpins. Most track days are on the shorter 1.95 mile national track, which starts with the run down into Redgate.
Donington is my local circuit, but I think the reason I have done more laps there than anywhere else is not because it is just 15 minutes away, it is because it is just such a great place to drive. Book it into your track day diary now.
